The victim was riding his stand-up scooter across 44th Drive in Long Island City around 6 p.m. Wednesday when the luxury ride plowed into him at Vernon Blvd., cops said.

Surveillance video obtained by the Daily News shows the victim stopping at a red signal on 44th Drive, then nosing forward and looking both ways on Vernon.

After letting several cars pass by, he takes his scooter into the intersection as the SUV barrels down on him.

The victim has a millisecond to brace himself before he is knocked at least six feet in the air, the surveillance video shows. He tumbled over the car as he was thrown to the opposite corner.

Another man on a motorized scooter was traveling behind the victim, but immediately rolled onto the sidewalk when the crash occurred. He pulled out his cellphone and called 911 as two witnesses raced over to check on the victim, the video shows.

It was not immediately clear if the two scooter users were riding together.

Responding officers found the struck scooter rider, who was not immediately identified, suffering from a severe head injury.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Thursday.

Neighbors said that section of Long Island City can be treacherous.

”It’s very dangerous,” said a man who would only identify himself as Georgi.”I would categorize the behavior of the drivers as criminal.”

The corner is a hotspot for late night automotive antics, said Georgi, who said he recently watched a driver in a U-Haul with no license plates doing donuts in the middle of the street.

”You can see the marks from the burnouts and you can smell the burning rubber. I open my windows to yell at them,” he griped.

Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this hit-and-run to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
