Firemen and civilians put their skills to the test during the Fireman Olympics Monday night at the Warren County A&L Fair. 

The 12 contestants competed in five different competitions: the hose hoist, dummy drag, foam run, tire flip, and one minute drill. 

In the hose hoist, contestants had to throw out a fire hose and then roll it back up as quickly as possible. Diego Martinez came out on top with a time of 33.7 seconds. Grant Seaborn followed closely behind with 34.7 seconds and Jamie Brown came in third place with 38.03 seconds. 

Next they competed in the dummy drag where they drug a 150 pound dummy around the cones and back. J.J. Brown Jr. came in first place with a time of 7.58 seconds. Sidney Hobbs came in second with 8.33 seconds and Martinez came in third with 8.46 seconds.

The foam carry competition had contestants carrying two heavy containers of foam around the cones. J.J. Brown Jr. earned another first-place prize in this category with a time of 7.55 seconds. Justin H. came in second place with 7.90 seconds and Hobbs came in third with 8.35 seconds. 

Contestants then competed to see who could flip a tire to the cones and back the fastest. Martinez came in first place with a time of 21.51 seconds. Colgan Dove came in second with 24.75 seconds and J.J. Brown Jr. came in third with 25.38 seconds. 

The final competition was the one-minute drill. This drill is to see who can correctly put on their gear the fastest. Hobbs came in first place with an impressive time of 47.26 seconds. He was followed closely behind by Brady Moffitt with a time of 50.70 seconds and then Seaborn came in third with 54.67. 

Martinez competed in the most competitions and won first place in the most categories so he was announced as the overall winner. 

North Warren Fire Chief Ramie Roberts was pleased with how the event turned out.

“I think it went great. We had a lot of new people and non-firefighters participate. I think this is the third year we’ve done it and hopefully it continues to grow,” said Roberts.
