ERIC Mafnas and Jamila Alegre ruled their respective divisions in Gold’s Gym Saipan’s first Squat-Bench-Deadlift or SBD Powerlifting Meet on Sunday, Aug. 7, at Gold’s Gym.
Eric Mafnas topped the Men’s Open Division, outlifting 10 other competitors.
With a bodyweight of 179 pounds, the 23-year-old performed impressively, recording a squat of 480lbs, followed by a bench of 275lbs and a deadlift of 500lbs for a total weight of 1,255lbs which tallied for 385.06 points.
In second place was 20-year-old Pacific Mini Games 2022 gold medalist Joey Colisao. With a bodyweight of 272, he recorded a squat of 550lbs, a bench of 275lbs and a deadlift of 505lbs for a total weight of 1,330lbs or 344.71 points.
In third was Jeffrey Seo. With a bodyweight of 177 pounds, the 20-year-old recorded a squat of 405lbs, a bench of 255lbs and a deadlift of 440lbs for a total weight of 1,100 lbs or 339.87 points.
In the Women’s Open Division, Jamila Alegre took first place. With a bodyweight of 132.6 pounds, the 23-year-old recorded a squat of 215lbs, a bench of 115lbs and a deadlift of 265 for a total weight of 595lbs or 300.33 points.
Christy Aldan, 20, came in second. With a bodyweight of 221.4 pounds, she recorded a squat of 265lbs, a bench of 160lbs and a deadlift of 335lbs for a total weight of 760lbs or 286.66 points.
In third place was Lalaine Santomin. The 23-year-old with a bodyweight of 170.4 pounds recorded a squat of 240lbs, a bench of 145lbs and a deadlift of 280lbs for a total weight of 665lbs or 281.53 points.
Gold's Gym Saipan’s first SBD Powerlifting Meet was an unsanctioned, casual competition for powerlifters who wanted to set new personal records.
The meet was performed with a Rogue Standard Bar and Hampton Olympic Rubber Coated Plates. All weights were in pounds.
Each lifter was granted three attempts in a standard "Round Robin'' flight arrangement.
